• Open OS X Mail
  
  
  
  

• Select Mail drop down menu and the Preferences... item.
  
  
  
  

• Click on the account you wish to change in order to highlight it. You can skip this step if the desired account is already highlighted.
• For Account Type, if IMAP is displayed, then you do not need to perform this change.
  
  
  
  

• Click on the Advanced tab.
• Check the box labeled Remove copy from server after retrieving a message
• On the selection below, choose After one week.
• Close the window to save this change.
